As NASCAR continues evaluating future homes for its annual All-Star Race, speculation over the event’s next destination has intensified, with fans already debating where the exhibition should head in 2027. 

While Speedway Motorsports has yet to announce a venue, recent comments from officials and industry insiders suggest the race could continue rotating between tracks, rather than settling into a permanent home.

The discussion gained momentum after the 2026 All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway. The move came after North Wilkesboro was awarded a points-paying Cup Series race for the first time in two decades, forcing the All-Star event to find a new venue.

Daily Downforce reported that the track not having lights and taking place during the day with a full field made fans feel alien to what they're used to.

The race itself became a topic of discussion, with many criticizing it for an overly complicated format, featuring a qualifying round with a live pit-stop challenge. The main race was split into three parts: two 75-lap sprints, where the starting lineup for the second segment reversed the top 26 finishers from the first. 

Finally, 26 drivers, including past winners, champions, a fan-vote winner, and the top performers from the first two segments, battled it out in a 200-lap shootout for the $1 million prize.

Not too long ago, Speedway Motorsports COO Mike Burch appeared on the Gluckcast podcast, where he addressed rumours surrounding the future of the Dover Motor Speedway, stating that it remains one of their best-selling tracks. 

“There will be racing at Dover. This idea that Dover is on decline or on the way out. No, there are too many passionate race fans. It's one of our biggest-selling race tickets-wise. So again, you don't move a race because you sell tickets. You don't move a race if you've got corporate support,” Burch said.

The notion that the All-Star race could continue rotating between tracks was also reinforced by Burch, who added in the same interaction that it has proven to be a ‘portable’ event that has been hosted at various events. 

Additionally, as reported by the Daily Downforce, Freddie Kraft also spoke of the rumours surrounding the All-Star race on the Door Bumper Clear podcast. Kraft named a few tracks that he felt could be considered for the next season's All-Star race, such as Loudon, or Nashville.

Fans have mixed feelings over the All-Star Race

People online have expressed a wide range of emotions over the uncertainty surrounding Dover and the All-Star Race. One user on X commented that NASCAR should just do away with the All-Star and instead replace it with a regular points race. 

They said, “You either make it a 37th points race or give it to Bowman Gray since NASCAR is legally obliged to have one race there per year.”

Another user added, “The so-called All-Star race needs to go away altogether; it means nothing anymore.”

One user feels that NASCAR should host it alongside multiple races before the Coca-Cola 600, which will help them with views and profit.

They said, “They should run the All-Star race and the truck race on the same night, the Saturday before the Coke 600 at Charlotte. More bang for your buck, or throw an ARCA race in there to get more value for the ticket.

Another user brought up Charlotte and said, “Put it back to Charlotte where it should’ve never left in the first place.” 

One user also gave an out-of-the-box suggestion to explore an entirely new venue, saying, “I’d love for it to be a wild card. Somewhere international maybe. Imagine if it was at Spa in Belgium; that would be awesome.”
