Nearly 25 years on, Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s legacy still remains relevant. In Talladega this weekend, fourth-generation Earnhardt, Bobby Earnhardt, will be paying tribute to his grandfather.
Bobby Earnhardt will be making his debut at the Talladega Superspeedway in the Alabama Manufactured Housing 200 for Rise Motorsports. The track has been closely linked to his grandfather after his iconic victory at the Superspeedway. During the Talladega race in 2000, Dale Sr., who was running 18th in the last five laps, cut through the traffic to earn his 76th career win.
26 years after the iconic win, the paint scheme will hit the track once again with only Bobby Earnhardt piloting the car. The #89 Rise Racing car will look similar to the ‘Intimidator’ #3 Richard Childress Racing No-Bull paint scheme.
Earnhardt announced the paint scheme via his X account, writing, “ First Talladega start this weekend. Rolling out a throwback-inspired scheme. Really thankful for Circle S Gelbvieh and Rancher’s Choice Netwrap and everything they continue to do to support me. Grateful to have Yulee BBQ Sauce Company and Zeb’s Bar-B-Q riding with us again too!”
In the press release put out to announce the car design for the Talladega weekend, Bobby wrote how it carries a lot of meaning to pay tribute to Dale Sr.
He said, “Making my first start at Talladega is already special, but to do it with this paint scheme takes it to another level. Knowing this was the last scheme my grandpa won with, at this same track, it carries a lot of meaning for me and my family.”
Earlier this season at Daytona, Bobby Earnhardt also paid tribute to his grandfather, who carried the black and silver paint scheme. During this race, Bobby Earnhardt finished in the top 10.
Bobby Earnhardt Talks About Racing at Talladega
Bobby Earnhardt will be making his debut at the Talladega track this weekend.
While in conversation with ARCA Menards, Earnhardt spoke about his dream-come-true moment.
He said, “My granddad loved [Talladega], and I’ve got a feeling I’m going to love that track after racing Daytona. This is one of those dream-come-true moments. I told everybody [I was going] to run Daytona before my career ended. Now I’m getting to go race Talladega, too. That makes it even better.”
Bobby Earnhardt made his comeback with Rise Racing late in 2025.
