Carson Hocevar is just getting started. And that statement is about both his winning prowess and the continuation of his unique celebration, which he debuted at Talladega Superspeedway.
After his maiden NASCAR Cup Series win at Talladega last weekend, the Spire Motorsports driver climbed out of the driver’s side window and sat on the door as he continued to drive the car around the track and waved to fans.
On Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway, he won the Truck Series race to kick off the weekend. He repeated the celebration, and in the post-race press conference, when reporter Jeff Gluck asked if he would continue doing the celebration every time he wins, Carson Hocevar laid a clear goal: the celebration would continue until he catches a beer from a fan.
"I’m gonna have to do this every time, and I’m all in on doing it, you know, on Sundays," he said. "And yeah, I’m all in until I catch, you know, whatever they throw at me, and then I'm done with it, and it’s not finished. And I think that would just be super fun because I just feel like it's unfinished, that almost opportunity of doing it."
"I'll do it until I catch the beer," Hocevar added. However, he did ask the fans to be creative with the throw and not chuck multiple cans at him at once.
However, there exists a catch to the celebration: a potential fine by NASCAR. As fun as the celebration is, it also possesses risks, not just to the driver but also to the spectators or NASCAR officials standing nearby. Though NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell promised that he wouldn't ban Hocevar's celebration, the No. 77 Spire Motorsports driver could risk getting a penalty of any amount between $10,000 and $100,000 or more.
In 2025, NASCAR fined Carson Hocevar $50,000 for an unsafe move while he attempted to rev his car and return to the field when safety workers were near his stranded car on track.
Carson Hocevar puts an end to Kyle Busch’s Texas Truck win streak
The Spire Motorsports driver dominated the Truck Series race at Texas. The race went into overtime after a crash involving Justin Haley and Jake Garcia, but the youngster managed to keep his cool and take the checkered flag.
During the post-race interview, Hocevar said, "It’s unbelievable. This means a lot. I can’t leave, but we got to go burn down a Chili’s somewhere. What a fun race. We had the reverse order, obviously—the 1-2 with Kyle. I watched him win a lot of truck races, and it’s finally good to end his Texas streak."
His teammate Kyle Busch finished the race in second place, bringing home a 1-2 finish for Spire Motorsports. Prior to this, Busch won at the track four times, but an early brush with the wall had put him a lap down, which he nearly overcame.
It seems there is no stopping Carson Hocevar. It will be interesting to see how he performs at Sunday's Cup Series race, where he starts on pole.
