Carson Hocevar's very first Cup Series victory made him the man of the moment in the NASCAR world. Even a week after his Talladega triumph, the young driver couldn't stop talking about the wild moments that followed his breakthrough.
Taking the checkered flag at a historic track is a major milestone for any driver, but Hocevar's post-race celebrations turned heads just as much as his driving. To celebrate, the Michigan native did not choose a basic style.
He touched down his No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet along the frontstretch while sitting up on the door frame of the car. Balancing on the window ledge, he used his long legs to work the pedals from the windowsill, waving to the roaring crowd, and ended with nosing the car into the wall to finish it off with a burnout.

Carson Hocevar reflected on the unscripted move during last weekend in Texas. "I had my radio off, obviously, and yeah, I mean that was straight trial by fire," said the 23-year-old. "I hadn't even known if that was even possible with the Cup car or anything, but you know, I hadn't even sat on the door and just envisioned it or anything."
Rather than worrying about whether officials would approve, the rookie driver decided to live entirely in the moment. "I figured, you know, of everything that I was going to do, you know, if there was ever an opportunity where I could get away with forgiveness rather than permission, that winning my first Cup race, especially at Talladega, would be the perfect opportunity to get away with that," he added.
Hocevar wanted to stretch out the experience for as long as possible and really soak in the electric atmosphere. Fortunately, NASCAR CEO Steve O'Donnell didn't mind his celebration style and promised the series wouldn't ban it. Maybe that was just encouragement enough for the Spire Motorsports driver to go back-to-back in Texas.
Carson Hocevar kept the celebration streak alive in Texas
Carson Hocevar kept the momentum rolling after his big win at Talladega. He celebrated with a team party at Chili's that same night and spent the week handling a busy schedule of interviews.
By Friday, he was back on track at Texas Motor Speedway for the Truck Series race and managed to take the checkered flag first once again in an OT thriller. To mark his win on Friday night, he redid his new signature celebration by climbing onto the windowsill once more to hit the gas and drive the truck.
It was a much shorter version than the week before, but the young driver felt he owed it to the fans who came out to watch. "I’m not going to do the whole ordeal," Hocevar said during his post-race press conference. "But it’s so fresh that I feel like I would have disappointed people if I didn't at least do something remotely to that nature."
Throughout the process, Spire Motorsports has been fully behind their young driver. No one told him to stop enjoying the victory and move on to the next task.
