After a woeful few NASCAR seasons for Legacy Motor Club, things have finally begun to look up for the team. With Jimmie Johnson looking to get 27 new celebrity investors on board, the team has a renewed spirit, and Erik Jones opened up about the same.
While talking to the media this weekend in Pocono, Jones was questioned by NASCAR reporter Elliot Hicks about the team's vibes with them getting new investors on board. Jones responded positively, saying:
"Yeah, it's great."

He further reflected on the upward trajectory that both the 43 and 42 teams have been experiencing this season so far, adding (Via Cup Scene on YouTube):
"The 43 group, I mean, obviously, we're feeling really good. The 42 group (teammate John Hunter Nemechek), I think, is on the up. I know their results haven't shown for them, but their speed's been there. Michigan, I felt like they were probably, you know, as good as us. They just got caught in that restart wreck. So, yeah, everybody's really confident."
So far this season, the team has run in the top 10 in many races. At Michigan, Erik Jones finished the race in second place. John Hunter Nemechek was also battling for the runner-up spot, but he got caught in the big one triggered by Carson Hocevar.
Not just that, Legacy Motor Club will also be introducing a third charter for the 2027 season, for which the driver is yet to be announced.
Jimmie Johnson: LMC Moving in "Right Direction" But Needs Time
In early June, Jimmie Johnson, alongside Richard Petty, teased 27 new investors who will join LMC. He revealed that musician Darius Rucker was one of the investors, but stated that the full lineup will be revealed in the second half of the season.
While talking to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, Johnson said:
“We have a huge group of celebrity investors, and we look forward to making that formal announcement with all 27 of them. But Darius and a couple more will be announced as we kind of get into the early summer stretch."
LMC's best result this season has been Erik Jones' podium at Michigan. The No. 43 Toyota driver also has two more top tens to his name, while teammate Nemechek has one from Watkins Glen.
"I think our paddock or garage area in NASCAR in general is really taking a shift at looking at things differently, more so than I have seen in the past as a competitor. So I think we’re really moving in the right direction. It’s just going to take a little time to get the flywheel spinning," Johnson added.
Legacy Motor Club was founded back in 2022. However, it has yet to visit the victory lane. Despite all of this, Erik Jones, alongside Jimmie Johnson, is confident in their long-term vision for the team.
