Legacy Motor Club has improved its performance in the Cup Series lately. On Sunday at Pocono, drivers Erik Jones (6th) and John Hunter Nemechek (4th) finished top-10 for the first time in the team's history.

Denny Hamlin, who himself is in the best form of his life and a Toyota veteran, dissected the performances as he revealed the reason behind Jimmie Johnson's team's sudden rise in the sport.

"I think there's probably a combination of things going on," Hamlin said in the recent episode of Actions Detrimental. "I think that generally they're just getting better as an organization. They haven't been Toyota that long, and they're now getting back to a lot of these racetracks for the second, third time, and fourth time, and you start building a notebook."

Legacy Motor Club was founded in 2021, and it was known as Petty GMS Motorsports. In 2023, it was rebranded to LMC. They started with Chevrolet but moved to Toyota at the start of the 2024 season and are based in Statesville, North Carolina.

"I certainly think that they're seeing the fruits of a lot of hard work, and I know they've changed so much personnel around that place over the last few years and whatnot. So, it's good to see them running well and those guys up the front," Hamlin further added.

Notably, Erik Jones, who drives the No. 43 Toyota Camry XSE for Legacy Motor Club, claimed a third, 13th, 11th, second, and sixth-place finish in his last five races. His teammate, Nemechek, secured a fourth-place finish in the recently concluded race at Pocono and 14th place at Michigan.

Legacy Motor Club announced new celebrity investors

Jimmie Johnson, the co-owner of Legacy Motor Club, revealed that the team managed to line up a huge group of investors, including renowned American singer Darius Rucker. Here's what Johnson said about it:

"We have a huge group of celebrity investors, and we look forward to making that formal announcement with all 27 of them,” Johnson said.

“But Darius and a couple more will be announced as we kind of get into the early summer stretch — but these are first and foremost friends and people that are passionate about motorsports."

Besides Darius Rucker, there are more investors from the fields of music, sport, motorsport, and business, Johnson confirmed. The team currently has two charters and is slated to take one more from Rick Ware Racing next season.
