eNASCAR star and champion Bobby Zalenski has made a huge prediction for the upcoming San Diego race weekend at Naval Base Coronado. He joked that Shane van Gisbergen could dominate the field after he was left feeling drained by the newly developed street circuit.
When asked what racing and battling around Coronado was like, and whether Zalenski was "mentally drained."
“Yeah, I mean, it's just so technical. There's so many places to give yourself damage, which unfortunately you saw with Parker. It's just, you have to be perfect around here, which means SVG is going to win by like 40 seconds or something. I don't know. But, God bless all the other drivers, I'll say that,” Zalenski replied.
Why this comment carries weight is because Zalenski has an impressive sim-racing record, especially on road courses.
Add to that the fact that the new Coronado circuit is a 3.4-mile, 16-turn layout, and someone like Zalenski would be able to comment on the ability of the circuit to hold an interesting race.
The descriptions recently emerging about the track seem to align with Zalenski. Previews of the race track showcase that there is a mix of high-speed sections and highly technical corners, leaving little room for error.
The race, however, promises to be an exciting one as NASCAR celebrates America’s 250th birthday. Let’s take a look at the race schedule and where fans can catch the live broadcast.
