The 2026 NASCAR season is far from over, but the focus has already shifted to what the 2027 schedule could look like. The rumors about new tracks and formats have been swirling around the garage. While the schedule has not been set in stone, the fans have expressed their displeasure over the same.
On Thursday, July 29, The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi put out a report stating that NASCAR is in the final stages of finalizing the 2027 schedule and will be announced in a few weeks. During this, he also gave a report about the tentative venues on the schedule next season.
According to Bianchi, Bristol Motor Speedway will be moved back to the regular season, where it had been since 1976-2019. The other tracks out of the Chase are Darlington Raceway and World Wide Technology Raceway. The tracks rumored to replace these for the Chase are Richmond Raceway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and Watkins Glen International.

Furthermore, Bianchi gave an insight into the future of San Diego and Chicago. He reported that NASCAR is still interested in racing in Chicago.
"NASCAR will be racing somewhere in the Chicago area next year, though it is still being sorted out whether it is on a purpose-built street course downtown, at the Chicagoland Speedway oval in Joliet, Ill., or both — with the last option considered less likely." Bianchi reported via 'The Athletic'.
Dover is also reportedly expected to return on the calendar as a points-paying race while North Wilkesboro might host the All-Star race as it did from 2023-2025.
However, these rumored changes have not sat well with the NASCAR fans.
NASCAR fans react to the rumored 2027 schedule
Under the post uploaded by Jordan Bianchi on his X account, many fans gave their take on the rumored venues and changes.
One fan expressed his frustration over the rumored removal of North Wilkesboro as a points-paying race. They commented,
"I doubt I’ll renew my yearly tickets if they take it way from Wilkesboro. Why bring it back and resurrect it from the dead then give it a points race for one yr and then s*** on it and all the fans that love it and sell it out every year!!!!"
Another fan expressed their disappointment towards Richmond being included for the playoffs. They wrote,
"I dislike the inclusion of Richmond in the playoffs again if it happens. It's a lackluster racing product with an inability to bring consistently good events on track."
Another fan expressed their frustration about rumors over Chicagoland being dropped from the calendar. They commented,
"This is b*******. I didnt spend all that money, time and effort into going to Chicagoland for it to be taken off after one year."
Charlotte Motor Speedway has previously hosted the All-Star race from 1985 to 2019. One fan commented,
"Why can't we just put the all-star race back in Charlotte again?"
Another fan expressed their hopes for Rockingham to be back on the calendar. They wrote,
"I really wish SMI would just buy Rockingham. That would secure the track's long term future and virtually guarantee a Cup race at some point."
Currently, Rockingham has found itself in the midst of ownership instability, making the move impossible for NASCAR.
