Legacy Motor Club continues to expand its ownership, and the NASCAR team has now announced its latest addition. On Tuesday, the Jimmie Johnson and Richard Petty-owned team announced the joining of Guy Fieri, sending the fans into a frenzy.
The Emmy Award-winning television host and restaurateur joined their long list of celebrity team owners. He has assumed the position of a "strategic owner" and will look over the "collaborative content, fan engagement initiatives, and licensed merchandise that bring together racing, food, and lifestyle culture"
In the statement put out by LMC on its website, the celebrity chef expressed his excitement about joining the team.
"Motorsports and race cars have always had that raw energy I love — the people, the passion, the culture, the speed," said Guy Fieri. "LEGACY MOTOR CLUB is building something different, and I wanted to be part of it. This is about more than racing — it’s about creating a brand that connects with fans everywhere, from the track to the table."
LMC co-owner and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson spoke about how Guy Fieri brings creativity and perspective, making him a perfect fit for the role.
"Guy has built an incredible brand by being authentic and connecting with people in a real way," Johnson expressed. "That’s at the heart of what we’re building here. We want LEGACY to reach far beyond race day, and Guy’s creativity, energy, and perspective are exactly what this ownership group is about."
This unexpected collaboration between Fieri and Legacy Motor Club has sparked a wave of reactions from fans online.
NASCAR fans react to Legacy Motor Club’s latest celebrity owner
Under the announcement post shared by Legacy Motor Club on its X account, fans commented in plenty, more surprised about Guy Fieri's arrival. A fan playfully recalled Jimmie Johnson’s drunk incident at Le Mans earlier in the month as they wrote:
"Bro cooked drunk jimmie one meal and immediately got hired as an exec #ethicaleats"
While another fan quipped about how Legacy Motor Club should make a paint scheme dedicated to Flavourtown as a nod to the 'Mayor of Flavourtown,' which is Fieri. They wrote:
"massive opportunity to do a flavortown car with a scheme that matches this shirt," with the shirt being the iconic flame bowling shirt Fieri made iconic.
Another fan hailed LMC for assembling a star-studded celebrity owner lineup and wrote:
"I've never wanted to go to an ownership meeting, but Legacy is gathering one hell of a crew to hang with!"
On similar lines, one fan joked about the team's expanding roster as they referenced the Marvel character Thanos collecting infinity stones. They wrote,
"Legacy out here collecting owners like infinity stones"
While another fan mentioned LMC's star driver Erik Jones in their reaction, writing:
"oh my god jones is going to flavortown"
