Greg Biffle Case Widens With Secret Service’s Financial Probe

The United States Secret Service has joined the investigation into alleged bank fraud involving the estate of Greg Biffle. Special agents in Charlotte are tracing financial activity following a burglary at the late NASCAR driver's residence.

Steven Gutierrez, Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service’s Charlotte Field Office, shared a written statement on this. "As part of our financial investigative mission, the U.S. Secret Service is assisting the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office with the bank fraud aspect of this case,” the statement wrote.

After Biffle's death in December last year, his house was subjected to a burglary, where over $30,000 and two firearms were stolen from his house. Detectives believe that the suspect seen in the video was smart enough to know the home's layout and the camera location. They suspect close aides behind the incident.

Allegedly, the search warrants show that the bank accounts of the Biffle family were compromised before the burglary.

Detectives feel that both incidents, the monetary fraud and the break-in, could be strongly connected and well coordinated, as whoever has done it had insider knowledge of the Biffles' accounts and routines.

"As this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide additional comments beyond what was released in court documents," the statement also added. The report further reflects twenty-eight eye-biometric correlations, including six assessed as high-confidence."

Notably, the authority revealed that they are not just relying on the fingerprint or biometric, but also gathering other evidence by speaking to the locals and relatives.

While there is an ongoing investigation, the Biffle family is caught up in another lawsuit.

Greg Biffle's family faces a $30 million lawsuit

Months after the tragic crash, the Greg Biffle family was slapped with two $15 million lawsuits, combining a total of $30 million. The lawsuits were filed by the late pilot Dutton's family, as Dawson Dutton, along with his son, also lost their lives in the crash.

The complainants alleged that if Biffle had maintained the plane properly, the situation could have been averted.

Dennis Dutton was flying the Cessna 500 Citation II that eventually crashed. A preliminary report revealed that Dutton had given control of the plane to his son, Jack, before the crash.

Before the accident, Biffle, along with his family, was heading to Florida at Cleetus McFarland's place for a birthday celebration on Biffle's private jet. However, it crashed while attempting an emergency landing at the Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, N.C., at around 10:15 AM local time.

Apart from Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder passed away, along with family friend Craig Wadsworth and Dawson Dutton, with son Jack. As of now, NTSSB has yet to release the final report.
