Carson Hocevar is on a roll. He hasn't relented after his first Cup win at Talladega, and he chases yet another victory. However, three-time champion Joey Logano believes his ability needs to be tempered.

In an appearance on Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour, Logano spoke extensively about the young driver.

“I’d agree he’s got a ridiculous amount of talent. Like raw talent. He’s just wicked fast. And that’s something that is impressive.”

Logano isn't wrong. Hocevar has displayed incredible speed this season. If we look at the average finishes of drivers in the last 18 races, Hocevar is in the top 10 with an average of 14.6. In doing so, he's going toe-to-toe with the likes of Kyle Larson and Daniel Suarez.

However, one thing that has come under the spotlight is Hocevar's attitude. We've seen him tangle with Kyle Busch on the track. Hocevar even had Denny Hamlin talking on Actions Detrimental about the young rookie learning humility. And Logano had a take on the same in the podcast.

“He’s shown from the beginning of his career that he is a bit of a wild card out there. I mean, I think he’s proven that, and then that’s not a secret to anyone; like, he’s gonna sling it in there and whatever happens, happens. It’s interesting to have that attitude, so much to just whatever.”

And Logano has had a taste of it too. At the Autotrader 400, with just 23 laps to go, a small contact from Hocevar's No. 77 Chevy sent Logano tumbling down the order. At the time, Hocevar apologized on the radio, and as Logano revealed, the two have had some conversation over the move.

“Carson and I have had issues, and we’ve been able to work them out. We’ve talked about it, and we’ve had contact back and forth on the racetrack. And nobody wants to be in that situation. And there’s some people that’ll probably take it and not do anything about it.”

Logano hinted that others wouldn’t take it so well, and that’s when it will start hurting the Spire driver. 

Logano gives Hocevar advice based on personal experience

Based on his experiences with Harvick as well as other drivers, Logano offered Hocevar a perspective that several drivers have put to the 77 Spire Chevrolet driver.

Logano said that while some drivers won’t do anything, there will be others who will come back to bite, and Hocevar needs to figure out what he aims to achieve in the sport.

“Am I trying to win a one-off race here and there, or am I trying to win championships? And that game has to be played all the way through the whole season. I’ve made the mistake. I know this. I’ve cost myself, I think, at least a championship and not playing it out correctly.”
