Joey Logano Admits His NASCAR Downfall as Playoff Chances Fade

With the Coca-Cola 600 all set to take place this weekend, it presents the drivers with an opportunity to gain momentum for the upcoming races. However, for Joey Logano, this race is all about catching up to the playoff cutoff line.

The three-time cup series champion had a bad start to the season. Logano sits in 18th place in the Cup drivers' standings and is currently 38 points below the chase cutoff.

The No. 22 driver recently made an appearance on the Giants Nation Show with Bobby Skinner. During his appearance, he was questioned about whether he can challenge for the win this weekend.

“I mean, it’s the same amount every week. You can’t do more than 100 percent. We’re already at it, right? It is hard to find a little more. So, yeah, we’re as focused as we know how to be and do everything we can to make up the deficit that we’re at,” he said.

He further added, “Obviously, we’re way behind compared to where we’ve been in the past and where we should be. So we got work to do and hopefully this we can able turn around a little bit.”

In previous years, Logano was one of the most consistent drivers and stood close to the top of the driver standings. In fact, all three of the No. 22 drivers' championships have been with Team Penske.

However, so far this season, his best finish came in at Martinsville, where he finished in third place.

Beyond his on-track achievements, however, the Penske driver has been making moves in the business side of things.

Joey Logano enters the business market as a Ford Dealer

Penske driver Joey Logano drives the No 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse. So, it is not surprising that Logano entered the business market with the manufacturer.

He joined hands with  Krause Automotive Group to form Joey Logano’s Huntersville Ford in Huntersville, NC. While talking to the media, Logano spoke about his inspiration behind this new venture.

“I want to prove to myself that I’m not a one-trick pony. That is very important to me. When I see other business owners that have built something incredible, I am fully amazed by it. Roger Penske did it. Henry Ford did it. My father did it. These guys were all-in, and they built this incredible thing, so I want to see what I’ve got.” he said.

The tight cup schedule will keep the No. 22 driver away from overseeing day-to-day duties. But Logano mentioned that he still wants to create “car club culture” where people don't just buy cars but come down to enjoy other activities as well.
