At 46 years old, Kasey Kahne still has the willingness to go and race more. The NASCAR driver, who has over 750 races to his name in nearly two decades, does not want to slow down, as he found a new reason to move forward — the World of Outlaws race.

Kahne, whose last race in the NASCAR was at Rockingham for Richard Childress Racing, rejoined the World of Outlaws recently as a substitute and, as a result, found a new plan for his return. He spoke to NASCAR journalist Jeff Gluck in an interview about this.

"I think it just shows like a really big passion to me and like a big high and just an excitement that it's hard to come by when you've done that so many years or, you know, race any type of car for so many years. So I just still look for that. I hadn't raced since the end of July, just trying to get KKR (Kasey Kahne Racing) back where it needs to be and back on top," Kahne said.

Recently, Macri Motorsports decided to bring in Kasey Kahne to replace the injured Anthony Macri. Macri suffered a compression fracture in the T4 and T5 vertebrae during a crash at Williams Grove in April this year.

"And we were pulling in too many directions, and I needed to back off and just focus on one race car. And that's what we've done since then. So I hadn't raced in a while and then, yeah, I got the call from them and they wanted to go racing for this month, really, because there's a lot of big races in Pennsylvania.

"And I mean, most drivers are driving something right now. So I was their option, and it worked out, but still five races to go. So yeah, really exciting," Kahne further added, speaking about how an opportunity opened up for him.

Utilizing his chances, Kahne drove the Macri Motorsports #39M car and went on to win his first race since he started racing in this series nearly three decades ago. And now, he has more races under his belt for the upcoming months.

As Kasey Kahne won the Williams Grove race, High Limit Racing sprint car series co-owner Kyle Larson praised him. As for the driver, getting back to winning ways was also enormously important for the 46-year-old driver.

Following his victory at Grays Harbor Raceway, when he denied Sheldon Haudenschild by 0.581 seconds, an elated Kasey Kahne shared his thoughts. Speaking about the win, he said in the post-race interview:

“It’s crazy. I couldn’t believe this would happen this weekend. Two weeks ago, I was still building my own cars to get prepared to hopefully race them later this year. Nick Macri and their whole family. Man, this whole Macri Motorsports team. Joe Mooney, he’s exceptional on the wrenches. He worked at KKR (Kasey Kahne Racing), and he’s done so much more since then with Anthony. Bob, Doug, and the whole team. This is a really good team.”

Thanks to the victory, Kasey Kahne helped his team claim their 10th win in total, and the first since Macri's illness. With this, he also became the third driver from Washington to win a race after Travis Jacobsen and Jason Solwold.
