Kyle Busch Faces Insider Criticism After Texas Clash Explanation

Kyle Busch's luck in NASCAR couldn't get any worse as the Richard Childress Racing driver faced yet another wreck, and this time it came at Texas. The RCR star collided with John Hunter Nemechek in the final laps and saw his race jeopardized. This triggered a huge controversy on social media about who was right or who was wrong, as former NASCAR crew chief Steve Letarte joined the conversation.

Speaking about the incident in the Inside The Race podcast, Letarte took a side, "I will say whether he’s(Busch) right or wrong about the position of the 42 (Nemechek), I just don’t think that the 42 deserves the result, right?"

"I think my point is if the 42 didn’t go all the way up and they bang doors, I can see maybe a door, maybe a pushing a shove after the raise, maybe a mean tweet later. But to just junk the 42, I thought was more than one race worth of frustration for Kyle Busch," he further added.

According to Letarte, among other things, Busch wasn't just reacting to Nemechek in that moment. It could be months or years of pent-up frustration, or some unfinished business between them, considering Nemecheck drove for Kyle Busch Motorsports for two years. Though Nemecheck departed to advance his career, there could be more to it.

Notably, the incident took place on Lap 266 of 267 when Busch's #8 car and Nemechek's 42 car made contact at Turn 2, squeezing both cars into the wall. In the next turn, Busch returned to the door and slammed it into Nemechek, sending him into the outside barrier.

As a consequence of the hit, both drivers suffered, as Kyle Busch came home in 20th place, while John Hunter Nemechek arrived at 21st place. After the conclusion of the race, both drivers went to social media to fight their side.

Kyle Busch defends his Texas move on John Hunter Nemechek

Kyle Busch shared his thoughts on the recent John Hunter Nemechek incident last weekend. Speaking about it, the RCR driver argued:

"I did not start this. The 42 apparently doesn’t know where the RS (right side) of his car is and where he is in relation to the outside wall. There was 2 ft outside him and I was judging my left side tires to the hash marks. Always know who you're racing beside."

Reacting to it, Nemechek wrote, "Not freaking clear," posted Nemechek. "Great day going, and just got wrecked. What an a**."

Kyle Busch is currently experiencing a career-high winless streak, which reached 104 last week. His last win came three years ago, at World Wide Technology Raceway on June 4, 2023.
