At 23, Carson Hocevar has been making strides in the NASCAR world, be it for his supreme racecraft or controversial incidents. However, his recent interaction with Roger Penske might have just opened doors for him to compete in the Indy 500, which has been a dream of his for a long time.
According to the NASCAR reporter Jordan Bianchi, the interaction between Penske and Hocevar took place before the drivers' meeting at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway ahead of the Brickyard 400. As reported by Bianchi, Penske, who owns the 2.5-mile historic oval and IndyCar, invited Hocevar to compete in the Indy 500.
However, this opportunity, which has come Carson Hocevar’s way, is not something out of the blue. He has time and again expressed his interest in participating in the Indy 500. Most recently, he attended an Indy 500 practice session in May as a guest at Andretti Global, a sister team to Spire Motorsports.

During an interview with FOX during that visit, the No. 77 Spire Motorsport driver was asked by analyst James Hinchcliffe if he got to race any race; which one would it be. To this, Hocevar replied, it would be the Indy 500. When asked why, he said (via Forbes):
“It’s my favorite track to watch races; this is my favorite month; it’s the story of the Indianapolis 500 that I love the most. It’s the only non-Cup race we ever sat down as a family to watch."
NASCAR fans express their enthusiasm about Roger Penske’s offer to Carson Hocevar
Under the post uploaded by Jordan Bianchi on his X account, many NASCAR fans flooded the comment section with support for Carson Hocevar.
One fan commented that it was a huge honor to have received this offer.
"This is a huge honour!! To have Mr Penske say that! Pretty mint!!!"
A fan quipped about Carson Hocevar’s height and how he would struggle to fit in the IndyCar car.
"There is no way The Captain would think they could fit that giraffe into a go kart."
Another fan was already imagining the future merch that Hocevar’s sponsor, Chili's, and Indy 500 would roll out.
"Huge W chilis Indy 500 car will change my life. I’ll buy all the merch."
This suggestion, however, wouldn't lead to a first-of-a-kind paint scheme, as Andretti Global's Kyle Kirkwood flaunted a Chili's branded car in early 2025.
But coming back to Hocevar, a fan commented how this might potentially lead to the Spire Motorsports driver attempting the 'Double,' where a driver attempts both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600.
"Book it, in 3 months there will be an announcement he has a ride with Andretti and he's attempting the Double Dente."
This invite from an entity of the caliber of Penske prompted a fan to point out the rise in popularity that Hocevar has experienced over his career. They commented,
"Have to say, his fan base has exploded this year. Walked by the nascar classics hauler where he was signing and I swear you would’ve thought Chase Elliott was there. Wouldn’t count him out winning most popular driver this year or at least giving it a good run for the money."
Will Carson Hocevar accept Roger Penske’s invitation? Let us know in the comments.
