NASCAR’s debut in San Diego promises to be unlike any other race. Taking place from June 19-21 at Naval Base Coronado, we will have a chance to witness American motorsport at one of the most secure American military bases on the continent. As a result, fans must be ready for stricter security measures and regulations not previously known for a NASCAR venue.

Identification and Entry Requirements

Every guest older than 18 must present a valid government identification before entry is allowed at the base. Acceptable forms include a state-issued driver's license, state ID card, U.S. passport, passport card, military identification, HSPD-12 PIV card, or Permanent Resident Card. NASCAR has clarified that a REAL ID is not required.

Foreign nationals will also have to bring a passport and will be subject to increased scrutiny and biometrics. Due to this, it is advised that international fans arrive a bit earlier than usual for scheduled race activities.

Security Procedures

As the event is being held at an active military installation, all personal items, including bags, vehicles, and guests, will be inspected before entry is allowed to spectator areas. NASCAR recommends arriving early to account for potential delays at entry checkpoints.

Parking and Transportation

All your parking needs will be met by the parking available inside the naval base, and there is no other official NASCAR parking within the city. Ticket holders will receive digital parking credentials, and normal parking can be availed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those without parking passes are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation. San Diego MTS Route 901 provides service to the NASNI Transit Center, where attendees can walk to the designated pedestrian entrance. For the race on Saturday, parking can be availed from 7:00 a.m., with admissions opening at 9:00 a.m.

Tailgating and Prohibited Items

The traditional tailgating that we are all used to will be limited due to security requirements. Prohibited items include firearms, weapons, ammunition, illegal substances, drones, hazardous materials, and any item deemed unsafe by security personnel.

Well, despite all these restrictions, it can easily be said that this race at Naval Base Coronado promises to be the most unique one of 2026.

Your safety comes at a price, and so does our fun. Especially if it's located at a station housing aircraft carriers, jets, and the finest technology our military has to offer.
