NASCAR’s Kyle Busch memorial service announcement leaves fans emotional

Kyle Busch tragically passed on May 21, a few days ahead of the Memorial Day weekend Race at Charlotte.

Busch was taken to the hospital from the Hendrick Motorsports headquarters, where he was putting hours into the simulator. While there was a tribute paid to NASCAR’s winningest driver at the Charlotte race, there will be a full-fledged service held for Busch when the NASCAR grid returns there for the Chase.

NASCAR made the official announcement via X, where they wrote, “Forever remembered. Forever celebrated. Join us on October 9 at @CLTMotorSpdwy as we honor the life and legacy of Kyle Busch.”

NASCAR’s post was met with the emotional response expected from those who were loyal to and inspired by Busch and everything he stood for.

According to NASCAR, the service will be open to everyone, from fans to members of the industry.

It is fitting that NASCAR celebrates the life and legacy of the 234-time race winner at a track that Busch won the 2017 All-Star race as well as the 2018 Coca-Cola 600, where he led a dominant 377 of 400 laps.

The memorial for Busch will be held after the truck race on Friday, when all three series return to CMS, as the Chase picks up pace.

Fans poured in heartwarming messages as the NASCAR post comment section became an emotional scroll.

Fans drop in suggestions to celebrate ‘Rowdy’s’ legacy

Most fans are yet to come to terms with the fact that Kyle Busch will not be seen doing peak ‘Rowdy’ things on track anymore. NASCAR’s announcement was met with fans pouring their hearts out.

One fan wrote, “My mind says he's gone but my heart still clings to him. Thank you @KyleBusch for giving me 22 years of mixed emotions. Top one is the happiness I had being your fan! Watching you learn and grow as you raced each year. Never any doubt of your emotions and I loved that. RIP KB#8🥺”

Another thought about Busch’s family and wrote, “That will be really nice! Kyle deserves this. My heart still breaks for Samantha and the kids. They're tough, like Rowdy. 🏁🙏”

Some fans made it clear that they want to see the tribute: “This has to be televised after the truck race, it simply can’t be avoided,” wrote one fan.

Another made a rather tall suggestion as what the flow of events should be, “New show idea like a legend. 2 hour remembering gone too soon. 6 segments His parents, Kurt, Rick Hendrick, Joe Gibbs, Richard Childress, a KBM leader, and finish with Samantha. Play it the Thursday before.”

Another fan made a wholesome suggestion of calling for archives to be made of all of Busch’s highlights and suggested the same be done for Dale Sr as well.

This fan wrote,  “Saw @SamanthaBusch posting about how her kids will remember Kyle. What if NASCAR and @DirtyMoMedia @DaleJr @MikeDavis88 started the Kyle Busch Project to create a website media museum of EVERY video of Kyle life in chrono order. Make one for Dale Sr too so life preserved on video.”

Fans have had their say as to what they would like to see as a celebration of Kyle Busch’s legacy.
