The pit road incidents were a separate show in the recently concluded Wurth 400 race at the Texas Motor Speedway. Kyle Larson and Chris Buescher nudged, Joey Logano crashed into Cole Custer, and several others were just saved on the edge.
Amidst this, Chase Elliott's crew chief Alan Gustafson voiced safety concerns as he called for pit-road speed limiters to avoid the dangers of such issues for the crew.
“I hate the danger it presents to crew members. I think that makes the case for pit-road speed limiters, personally. But that one caught my eye, because it’s just scary when a bunch of guys are jumping out of the way," Gustafson said.
It all started with the Cup Series drivers when they started moving to the pit lane one after another. With the pit lane being congested, the drivers and crew faced difficulties navigating their ways.
In Lap 94 of the race, Joey Logano's #22 car entered the pit lane and rammed the back of Cole Custer's #41 as the latter waited for Ty Gibbs to go out.
As a result, both cars sustained damage and had to go home with DNFs. Besides them, Chase Briscoe and Kyle Larson also faced similar experiences due to the congestion. But they averted it due to their awareness.
While Alan Gustafson's concern for the pit road is right, he must be overwhelmed because of his driver, nonetheless.
Chase Elliott won at Texas to become the only driver with multiple wins
Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott won the Wurth 400 at the Texas Motor Speedway last Sunday, and with this, he became the only driver to win multiple races this season, apart from Tyler Reddick.
"I just felt like, man, if I didn't get clear off of [Turn] 2, I was going to be in a lot of trouble," Elliott said after the race. "So, fortunately, Alex gave me a great push. I was able to execute Turns 1 and 2, get clear, and then just kind of manage the last few laps."
Notably, Chase Elliott received a great push in the final restart, thanks to his teammate, Alex Bowman. As a result, he cleared Hamlin and kept his lead before winning the race.
"You know, just the way the side-draft works there into Turn 1, with him getting the push from the 48 (Bowman), it just allowed his momentum to pick up a little bit quicker than mine," said Hamlin, who's now just eight points ahead of Elliott at second place.
