Kevin Harvick may have stepped away from racing, but he doesn't leave a chance of racing with his son, Keelan Harvick. But on Saturday, he escaped a 'demolition derby' at the Wenatchee 200 after nearly wrecking Keelan during the $25,000 race.
This race event marked Harvick's return to the series after his last race at Kern Raceway in March. However, the FOX broadcaster was not pleased with the race.
While discussing the race on Speed with Buxton and Harvick, he described the chaos that took place in the race, which only left the roof of his car undamaged.
"We started with 25 cars, and nine were running at the end. It turned into a demolition derby," said Harvick. "The roof is fine. The rest of the car is not fine."
Will Buxton asked him whether drivers race around him carefully, considering the vanity Harvick brings in such grassroots races. Harvick mentioned that most of them race respectfully, but some drivers like to "prove a point." And when that happens, Harvick doesn't feel shy to bring out his "old Kevin" for them.
He further spoke about how he almost took his son, Keelan, out of the race. "I got into a few scuffles there as we went through that. At one point, I just came up off of Turn 4, and I touched the right front onto Keelan's left rear wheel as we were racing. It ripped the wheel out of my hand through the grass back up through the middle of one and two."
Keelan Harvick also played along, as he took to his social media to playfully call out his father and the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion for almost taking him out of the race, not once but twice.
"C’mon Pops! Almost took me out twice 🤣"
Despite the contact, Harvick Junior finished the race in fourth while Harvick Senior finished behind him in fifth.

While the FOX Broadcaster battled with his son, he also had other on-track battles during the Wenatchee 200 race. He recalled one such incident, which also involved the driver getting flipped off.
During the recent episode of his Happy Hour, he explained the incident and why it troubled him so much. According to reports, the driver involved was Kasey Kleyn, who made contact with Harvick's rear bumper in the race.
“I figured out this weekend that I still can be p***** off. Seeing somebody stick their finger out the window and flip me off.”
“Guy tried to wreck me. If I try to wreck you, I’m wrecking your a**. You’ll know when I try to wreck you.”
The two eventually made contact, leaving Harvick to make repairs to his rear bumper. While Harvick finished 5th, Kleyn ended his race in 15th.
